Practice Makes Perfect 6B

In class this past week we read and watched an article on grit.  In this article, Duckworth talks about how being gritty means "sticking with things over the very long term until you master them."  Grit is a hard thing to master to because when things get tough, it’s easier to quit then to push forward. After we feel as if we have failed at a task, we simply move onto something else.  However, when you do decide to stick it out the results are ten times better then if it was something easy.  In addition, you will feel a sense of accomplishment after knowing that all of your hard work has paid off.  In “ Work Hard or Work Smart” Tom Weber explains that it is better to both work hard and smart in combination. By doing this, one will be able to achieve success in an easy foolproof manner.  The message that both of these articles are saying is by pursuing our goals it helps motivate us into doing well. Also, that by planning our next move helps keep us on track. By sticking to our gut feeling on our beliefs; ultimately pays off. We, as humans, are a lot stronger than we believe ourselves to be.  As a whole we are powerful creatures. Honestly, mind set is key. If you do not have a positive mindset it will be much harder to get anything done.  As said in the Angela Duckworth and the Research on 'Grit' article, intelligence is the key to success.  A study showed that Ivy League students actually aren’t the smartest people; most of them just have tremendous work ethic. It was also said by Doctor Duckworth that accomplishing something is one of the best feelings because by knowing that you have successfully completed a task can in fact make a huge difference in your success standings.
