If you were to look up the word “initiative” in the dictionary it would say something along the lines of the “…readiness and ability in initiating action.” To me that means someone who just does something that needs to be done without someone having to tell them to do whatever it may be that needs to get done. More times then not, I would say I take the initiative on a lot of things, especially work. In the work environment many employers look for someone who not only does what they are asked to do, but go above and beyond and do what needs to be done without being asked. I cater weddings and because there are so many small details that need to get done, my boss relies on us to take the initiative and get everything we need to done.
Punning: “the
humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its different
meanings or applications, or the use of words that are alike or nearly alike in
sound but different in meaning; a play on words.” This word relates to my
studies because there are a lot of words that mean one thing but can also mean
another thing. For example, in class a Professor might explain the material to
the class and have it not make sense to just one student; therefore she can
explain it a different way to that one student having trouble. Both ways
explaining the same material.
Fastidious: “excessively
particular, critical, or demanding; hard to please” This word relates to my
studies because it explains how as an incoming freshman into college, I don’t
know what to expect when I do homework assignments. Some Professors might be
harder to read therefore; harder to please when their expectations are unclear.
