Clubbing with Caitlin 3I

         There are a lot of times where one wants to get involved, but they don’t know how.  I always wanted to get involved but I never had time.  I have always worked two jobs and have found it hard to find the time to stay involved.  Because I now only work one job and only on Saturdays, I find myself having a little more time to do other things. So I decided to get involved.  The first step was to go to the club fair this past Wednesday.  I went right after our Media class with Caitlin.  We walked around talked to different clubs and organizations. I became interested in two, Best Buddies and a future teachers club. 

            I liked these two organizations/ clubs because I found that they were based on volunteer service.  I am a big person to give back to the community, so I loved that about these clubs. 

            Since my mom is an occupational therapist, I have always have had a determination to help out kids with special needs.  I found that Best Buddies is a club where you are just a friend to someone with special needs.  From the time I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher.  I want to make children want to come to school everyday because they like it there.  I want to be that teacher that a child looks back on and say, she was awesome.  The Futures Teachers organization is kind of a sneak peek at being a teacher.  You are able to volunteer in the New Haven schools and read to the children.  It is a good opportunity to get involved and make connections with people who have the same interests as me. Getting involved will make college a more enriching experience.
