For the past couple weeks, one of my best friends has been begging
me to join a sorority with her. I wasn’t
really convinced because I don’t like the idea of having to be accepted into a
group of people. Not only did it seem
really clicky, but also I didn’t see the point in spending so much money just
to be part of the “sisterhood.” This
Tuesday I finally decided to go. I went
to a rush event. I must admit it was
fun. All the girls seemed so genuine and
accepting of everyone. All the
stereotypes didn’t seem to match up with this sorority. I attended Alpha Sigma Alpha’s meeting. We saw a hypnotist, the same one that came
for welcome weekend.
I found that this sorority wasn’t about living up to the
stereotypes but it’s more about having people to network with during and after
college. I’m definitely thinking about going to more of the rush events.
