During high school I never had to stay really
organized. I could stuff everything into
a folder and that worked. In college I
have noticed you can’t really do that.
When I moved in, I only brought two binders. I soon realized that only having two binders
was not going to work out.
On Saturday
I decided I needed to get organized that way I was less likely to forget about
something or misplace a paper. I ran
down to the bookstore in the student center and bought three more binders and a
few packages of dividers. I made a goal
for myself to get organized by Sunday, so when it came to classes on Tuesday I
would be all organized. I started to
classes on Tuesday and began taking notes in my previously made note section
and felt like not only were my papers more organized but my thoughts were more
organized as well. As I left classes on
Tuesday, I gave myself the goal to study for 6 hours a day. Because of getting my binders and materials
for class organized I found myself beginning to be able to organize my time
better.
I must
admit, it took a lot of self-discipline to do homework and study for 6 hours,
but in the end I felt as if I had mastered the concepts in class much more then
I would if I hadn’t done the studying.
When I studied for those 6 hours I didn’t have any distractions I just
did it in one big chunk. I think over
time I will do it by class in smaller chunks that way I don’t get frustrated or
feel too overwhelmed. Studying might not
be fun or easy when there are so many other fun distractions, but in the end we
are here to go to school and that has to be our number one priority. Sometimes, it might stink having to say no to
hanging out with some friends, but it will pay off in the end.
We’re in
college. To be successful in college you
have to stay organized, not only with your course materials but also with your
time. I found staying organized in one-way
helps you get organized in the other.
Organization is the key to success and I’m determined to be successful.
