Investment 14V

Investment:  The word investment has the word invest in it, which means to use, give, or devote (time, talent, etc.), as for a purpose or to achieve something.  Investment basically means the same thing.  It means to take the time and energy and put it into one specific thing making something worth it.  One thing I am investing in is my future.  I am doing this by going to college and bettering myself as a person. These days a lot of people invest too much time into work and not enough time into their families and friends.
Two words I learned this week are:
Consummate: complete, total, and supremely good

Jaundiced: cynical; pessimistic

Family Dinner 14I

One great thing about living in Neff Hall is the different activities they have every week to try and connect the residents in the hall together.  This week there was a “family dinner” for all residents on Monday night.  I didn’t go for long because of other obligations, but the time I spent there was really fun.  I was able to ask my RAs questions about the closing procedure for thanksgiving break and hangout with some friends.  There was tons of food and music.  It was nice to be able to have a little break and just hangout with some good friends for a while. It's kind of becoming like a big family and it's great.  I’m glad I live in Neff Hall with the people that do.

Project Thankful 14B

When deciding where to go for college in April, I was determined not to go to Southern.  I was dead set on attending Sacred Heart University.  When the financial aspect of attending Sacred Heart didn’t work out, my only other option was Southern.  I decided I would go without even touring the campus.  I was all but thrilled.  However, after spending almost an entire semester here at Southern, I’m glad I picked Southern.  This past semester I have met some of the greatest people.  I have met some that I would consider best friends.  I have professors that I have loved and disliked but I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to meet so many new people.  This thanksgiving season I am thankful for my family who has supported me in every step of the way.  Whenever I felt lonely, they would always be right there to comfort me.  They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
If I went to a school where I didn’t really click with anyone, I would be absolutely miserable.  I am so lucky to have those friends at school where I feel like I have known them forever.  I am so grateful to have been able to really click with one of my professors and be able to talk with her if I was ever having any issues.  I have never felt this accepted and supported before and it’s a great feeling.

Now more than ever I am grateful for my own room when I come home.  I haven’t really clicked with my roommate, but it has taught me that not everyone wants to be there.  Everything that has happened this first semester at school has made me appreciate things now more than ever.

Staying Relaxed 14A

It’s becoming to be that time of the semester where planning and time management is crucial.  I have been swamped with lots of work that needs to be done, and at the end of it all, there are finals.  It’s all very stressful but when you take a little time during the week to recharge, it makes all of the difference.  This past week I have been taking time to catch up on some sleep and hang out with my friends after I get some work done.  I feel I should relax while I can before it gets too crazy.  To relax before starting to prepare for finals, I went and go a manicure and pedicure with a friend for a final little hoorah.  To start preparing, I went and made a study schedule for the finals I have.  I realized that I don’t have a final in my Media in Everyday Life class, so I didn’t have to incorporate that into my schedule, however, I had to plan for a presentation and a paper in that class.  To try and get ahead, I planned out my paper and started writing it.  Starting things ahead of time will help make later much much easier.  I know being stressed is inevitable, but getting ahead will help ease the stress.  I want to feel prepared for the end of the semester and I think sticking to the schedule I made up will help with that.  Although my two-week schedule is to make sure I am studying the proper amount, it also has time for me to take naps and relax.  It will sure make the difference in how I do for the very end of the semester.

Nothing but a Headache 13I

This past Monday was one of those days where I was dreading.  It was registration for spring semester classes.  I had spent hours upon hours making up different schedules in the hopes of trying to make 6:01 am as stress free as possible.  Well that didn’t happen.  Sunday night I decided to stay the night at my house so I would have a much more reliable wifi connection with little chance of technical difficulties.  I woke up Monday morning at 5:30 am gathered everything I needed to and sat in front of my computer.  I sat and waited until 5:50 to log on to bannerweb where I continually got kicked off.  I was continually refreshing the page until I was finally able to get into bannerweb at 6:48 am.  I put in all my different options for classes and all the choices got kicked back to me because they were filled up already.  It was terrible after both my schedules didn’t work, I found myself searching for classes that might work.  At 7:02 am I was officially registered for the spring semesters at Southern.   Next semester I am definitely being a note taker!
