Finals are around the corner and I am used to
flying by without studying. In high
school I was always told what exactly was going to be on the test and we would
review over and over again. Since becoming a student at Southern, I quickly
learned that is not the way it is in college.
So now that I actually have to study for finals, I realized that I
needed to make a plan about two weeks ago when my professors started mentioning
it in class. To try and plan ahead, I
had my math professor email me a final review paper so I could start studying
for that right away. I made a schedule
for me to allow enough time for me to study yet make sure I have enough time to
sleep and have down time to just do what I want to do. Starting early allowed me time to spread
things out and still be able to do things I want to be able to do. I have been asked to participate in study
groups where a group of people in our geography class all studies what is going
to be on the final. I have found that it
is much harder for me to actually be as productive as possible when I am in the
study group environment. It can be
extremely distracting and not really useful.
For example, a group of us got together for our geography final about a
week ago, and everyone didn’t need to study the same thing and it made it hard
to be able to really focus. I cannot wait for finals to be over and vacation to
start!
